On Wednesday 19th October, 2022 the Sydney Secondary College Opens Cricket team took on Canterbury Boys High School in Round 2 of the Alan Davidson Shield at Blackmore Oval, Leichhardt. Students from Leichhardt, Balmain and Blackwattle Bay took part in the game. This game had previously been cancelled twice in Term 1 due to wet weather. The boys were very keen to play!
Canterbury Boys won the toss and elected to bat. The Sydney Secondary College was tight and economical. Wickets fell regularly with highlight performances from Leichhardt Campus bowlers Sean K, Ben T, and Laurence B Canterbury Boys were bowled out for 117 in 34 overs.
Sydney Secondary College went into bat and placed high pressure on their bowlers in the first few overs. Leichhardt Campus batsman Riley D scored 38 not out with Blackwattle Bay student Ben C-G 58 not out. Sydney Secondary College won the match in the 14th over.
