Balmain and Leichhardt

Transition to Blackwattle Bay

All Year 10 students from Balmain and Leichhardt Campus are offered a place at the senior campus. The college has devised an extensive transition program which involves all students.

All students and parents should note the following important events in the Transition Program.


Term 2

Assemblies at Balmain and Leichhardt Campus - Week 3/4

HT Secondary Studies and Year 11 students visit Balmain and Leichhardt Campuses to introduce them to major transition events and to provide information on Stage 6 Curriculum and VET and EVET subjects available at the senior campus

Subject Information Night at Blackwattle Bay Campus - Week 9

All students and their parents/carers are invited. Students will receive their information package and parents and students can participate in faculty tours, discuss with Head Teachers and Teachers delivering Stage 6 Courses and listen to students speaking about the senior campus. 


Term 3

Subject Selection Interviews - Week 4 and Week 5 

All students will have an individual interview. Parents are invited to attend. The College interview team, consisting of  teachers from all three campuses, will advise students on course requirements, pre-requisites and suitability of courses to meet the individual student's learning needs.

Parents are encouraged to attend the interview and can make a interview time using the SOBS booking system. Details are available on the home page of the Blackwattle Bay website.

Leichhardt students can book Interviews on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Week 4.

Balmain students can book interviews on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Week 5


Term 4

Taste of Blackwattle Bay Campus - Week 7

All students are expected to attend for the four days and follow their Year 11 timetable. The Taste of Blackwattle Bay Week is an opportunity for students to meet their teachers, mentors and the other students enrolling in Year 11. They will also participate in Life Ready courses as well as complete the mandatory NESA All My Own Work.
